Home Restoration and New Homebuilding Experience.
General Contractor Licensing and Welding Degree.
I started doing construction in 1988 when I was merely 12 years old. I built skateboard ramps with my friends. There were no blueprints, skateparks in my town, or internet to consult at that time. We had to start out with trying to copy what we saw in magazines. After a couple of failed attempts, we started building good ramps. Pretty soon we were the town ramp builders and I was making some money.
I was hired by a legitimate construction company in 1994 when I was 18. Where I worked my way up through the years from a basic carpenter, all the way to Project Manager. After I built my first house, I fell in love with the process. I made sure I did every job that I could to learn every aspect of the trade.
Then I got a job working for the Government bringing dilapidated houses up to code for years. This is where I gained an immense amount of knowledge into what can happen if things are done wrong and the negative, long term effects it can have on a house. I learned how to spot mold and how to deal with it. We replaced roofs, windows, doors, electrical, plumbing, floors among many other things. These skills have made a huge difference in my career laying the groundwork for my own future business.
In 2001 I was a father and decided to go to college to receive an Associates Degree in Welding and Blueprint reading. Not only did I get a degree, but I graduated at the top of my class. Being the only student in 25 years to ever get a score of 100% on the final exam. I spent several years running my own welding shop while I worked in commercial construction. I worked as a welder, carpenter and heavy equipment operator. We built massive churches, stores and whatever else the town I lived in needed.
In 2004 I moved to Asheville NC where I worked on mega-mansions and high end homes. Steve Rogers of Briarwood Construction taught me how to take a basic framed house to a magnificent finished work of art. I worked with some of the finest craftsman that money could buy. I learned a lot from these people, and I am still in touch with many of them today.
After that in 2007 I became a project manager for a GC building multi-family homes. We built 39 apartment buildings together. Business was great until 2011 when the construction industry in my town finally fell to the 2008 recession and my friend and boss, John Daly of Daly Homes, decided to shut his business down. I´m still good friends with John. He taught me a lot about the business side of this profession.
Forced to pivot my career slightly, In 2011 I went to Lutherie school in Atlanta Georgia and learned to build guitars. This is where I studied the elaborate intricacies that wood has and how to build with extreme precision as I worked under 4 master luthiers to obtain my licensing.
I found a partner and we started a little Guitar Shop, which ran for 5 years until the construction industry picked up again and I was able to get back into my true love full time, Building houses. I enjoyed building guitars, but I love homebuilding and restorations because of the variety of work involved and how much it allows me to help others regain a quality of life with a well functioning home.
I obtained my General Contractors license in 2016 and still have it. (South Carolina #123314) I immediately started an environmentally friendly construction company called Green Solution Construction LLC, I focused on healthy materials and sustainable building practices that focused on mainly doing major repairs and a custom home build once a year.
I moved to Charleston from Asheville NC in 2020. I quickly found that there was a huge need for a Contractor that showed up on time and did EXACTLY what they said they would do. I met so many great customers in my 5 years in Charleston. I was able to work on some wonderful homes and buildings. I loved Charleston, but the kids that we had been raising for the last 28 years had all grown up and in 2025 my wife and I decided to do something that we had always dreamed about. Move abroad.
And that brings us to the present. Where we happily live in Porto Portugal hoping to make the same kind of difference in peoples lives that I had been doing in the USA for over 30 years.
And even after 30 years, I still love this job and pride myself on showing up on time, being respectful, polite and all inclusive. I was raised to respect everyone and I still guided by those principles today.
One of things that has helped me stay busy through the years is that I keep everything affordable. I have found ways to work extremely efficiently over the years and that has enabled me to keep prices low. Estimating is one of my strong points and that equals savings in this profession. Savings that I pass on to you.
What I do:
Ground up Custom Homes. Turkey, start to finish. Complete Home Remodels and renovations. Anything structural including removing load bearing walls and calculating the beam needed. Complete Kitchens, bathrooms, additions, decks. ANY kind of damage, Roof rafters, wall studs, window headers, door headers, Floor joists. Mold removal and remediation. Termites, Lead Paint remediation, Water damage repairs, flood repairs, bad carpenter repairs. I can build anything, figure out how to build anything, but it´s way easier with blueprints. Home Inspections. Anything home related. There´s really no job too big or too small.
So if you´re interested in any kind of work, feel free to contact me for a free estimate. Thanks for reading my crazy long work bio. Obrigado!
